If you are convicted of a DWI in North Carolina, you have to deal with fines, court fees, incarceration, probation, driver’s license suspension, alcohol monitoring, a substance abuse assessment, alcohol or drug education, and possibly counseling.
With a DWI on your record, you may have a hard time finding and maintaining a job. A lack of reliable transportation might not only disrupt your work, it may also disrupt your education. As a college student, you may have to take a semester or two off until you get your driver’s license back.
A DWI can result in changes to a child custody or visitation schedule. Your children’s other parent may use it as an excuse to seek a child custody modification in court, reducing the amount of time you see your children.
Goolsby Law Firm recently helped a client who was facing two charges, including DWI (driving while impaired) and careless & reckless driving.
The client was charged by an NC State Trooper after smashing into another car before turning into his own driveway. After going into his house and the neighbors calling 911, law enforcement arrived. While the client denied his impairment, the State Trooper took him to test his blood alcohol content (BAC), the result of which was .12%.
The case went to trial, where attorney Thom Goolsby aggressively defended his client’s rights. At the conclusion of the case, the client was found not guilty.
Recently, an NC woman found herself facing quite a bit of trouble when she was charged with the following criminal offenses: Driving while impaired (DWI); Felony assault on a law enforcement officer; Two counts of assault on law enforcement officers; Resisting arrest.
Law enforcement who was involved with the woman’s arrest alleged that she was impaired and attacked multiple police officers by striking one with a vehicle and fighting/injuring two others. The consequences of being found guilty on all offenses were severe, so the woman reached out to Goolsby Law Firm for help.
Attorney Thom Goolsby assisted the client in taking her case to a Superior Court trial – where she denies all of the charges against her. Due to his aggressive defense and energetic actions in advocating for the client, she was found not guilty of the DWI, felony assault on a law enforcement officer, and the misdemeanor assaults on law enforcement officers.
Recently, a North Carolina man found himself facing charges for both DWI (driving while impaired) and Hit & Run after allegedly driving while drunk, striking another vehicle and driving away. Knowing the penalties that could stem from a conviction on either offense — including incarceration, fines, and more — he reached out to Goolsby Law Firm for help.
The client pled not guilty to the DWI, and he admitted to striking the other vehicle involved in the hit and run. Through a strong defense strategy at trial, Attorney Thom Goolsby was able to secure a not guilty verdict for the DWI charge. In relation to the hit and run charge, he was ordered to pay court costs and a $100 fine.
Like any quality DUI/DWI attorney, Thom Goolsby may be in court when you first call, but leave a voice mail or send a text. We’ll get with you as soon as possible, so we can go over what happened, evaluate the case, and explain what comes next.
